Many people feel that they don’t have important things to care about. People like to feel important, and they like to talk about things that matter. Unfortunately, talking about things that matter tends to bring up a lot of thorny, difficult questions and issues. Often the answers are unpleasant, and people don’t like things that are unpleasant. Thus the subject of sports acts as an empty, meaningless alternative to the real issues that exist in the world.

Der Film Abre los ojos (Open your eyes) ist sehenswert. Zwischen Psychothriller, Liebesfilm und Science Fiction liegend, erzählt er die Geschichte von César, der die Liebe seines Lebens findet und kurz darauf in einen Unfall verwickelt wird, der sein Gesicht völlig entstellt. Die Ärzte finden eine Möglichkeit, sein Gesicht zu retten. Vielleicht träumt er das auch nur. César lebt zwischen Traum, Wirklichkeit und Wahnsinn und weiß bald nicht mehr, was er glauben kann. Mehr als das sollte man nicht wissen, bevor man sich den Film ansieht. Abre los ojos ist kein schneller Film. Leicht transhumanistisch, besonders zum Ende hin.
